A Quaint Little Drinking Town with a Fishing Problem
There are quite a few bars in the area and many of them are justly famous for their live music. Below is a partial listing of clubs and their specials, the guitar indicates live music.
Pizzalley/The Chianti Room, St. George Street and Charlotte Street
Best Happy Hour in town! 3-6 M-F , two for one on just about everything INCLUDING top shelf. They now have Guinness on tap ($5.50 for two what a deal!!) AND you get a free small slice of cheese pizza.
AIA Alehouse, Corner of King and Menendez
This is one of my personal favorites for their very tasty brews, they also have good food ($8-$20). Ask at the Office for a coupon good for 10% your meal!

Happy Hour 4-7PM M-F Y Be sure to ask at the Pirate Haus reception for your 10% off coupon!
St. George’s Tavern, 116 Saint George Street
This is definitely a local bar. Great Juke Box tunes. Guinness and Sam Adams ale on tap. Drink specials every night. Gets really smoky between 10pm and 1AM. Bring your gas mask.
The Milltop, 19 1/2 Saint George St
Newly remodeled!
Stogies, 34 Charlotte Street
Stogies Blues and Jazz Club is a blues and jazz club where you can catch live jazz and blues nightly starting at 9pm. It’s probably St. Augustine’s only cigar emporium and tobacconist, with its signature hand-rolled cigars. You also have a choice of 50 imported beers, cappuccino and espresso.
Sangria’s , Corner of St. George and Hypolita, Upstairs
Lots of versions of Sangria ($8.50) but cool eclectic music. No smoking inside.
Mi Casa, St. George Street
I never understood why they close so early…maybe it’s in their lease. Cozy outdoor patio with live music most weekends.
Tradewinds, 124 Charlotte St.
St. Augustine’s smoky dive bar, popular with bikers. Average age 40-60 Drafts: Only typical American beers
-
Happy Hour 4-8 PM $2 Drafts
The Prince of Wales
English pub with great atmosphere and good Engrish food and no smoking inside.
O’Malley’s
Nice small place on Orange street owned by Navy vets near the City Gates. Trivia nights, live music, nice staff. Mondays – Military and First responders get 50% off.
Harry’s
Primarily a restaurant, but has a bar. Nice outside courtyard and a table or two on a balcony overlooking the bay. In the map that we distribute is a 10% off coupon!

Happy Hour 4-7PM
Scarlet O’Hara’s, 70 Hypolita St
Under new ownership, which is good because the last time I went the outside bartender sucked!
The Rendezvous
Largest selection of beers in town, but at a price. Good place to go to have a beer and actually hear each other talk.
Gigglin’ Gator, King Street
This is another local bar.
Across the bridge on Anastasia:
Sarbez This the place to catch new and up and coming musicians on tour. Know for their Artisan Grilled cheese and tasty brews on Tap.
Nobby’s Usually good music on weekends.
Hornski’s Vinyl store with a pool table and tasty bottled brews.
Hoptinger’s German food amidst a tap room.
FOOD!!!!
PIZZA TIME is one of our favorites and now that they won 2nd best pizza in America (Trip Advisor) they usually have a line, but it moves fast.
A1A Burrito Works and Taco Shop on St. George. Great food and inexpensive. Try their UFO!
A bit further afield, just past the Distillery, is the CRAVE food truck. Super good healthy wraps and salads, starting at $6, and waterfront dining to boot!
Near the end of San Marco next to cafe Dos, another excellent food truck, The Uptown Scratch Kitchen.
Upscale??
We suggest La Pentola (Italian on Charlotte), The Tasting Room (Tapas, on Cuna Street), or Collage (Charlotte Street). A bit further South on A1A is the highly rated Purple Olive . The Floridian on Spanish Street is known for locally sourced food.
Pizzalley/The Chianti Room Used to be just Pizza but the Chianti Room is a sit down Italian place. Good Chicken Parmesan, I’d avoid the Charlotte Chicken unless you REALLY love Tarragon! Great Happy hour…2-4-1 everything from 3-6 M-F AND you get free slice of cheese pizza.
Casa Maya, Hypolita just up from Charlotte
Authentic Mexican food from the Yucatan (not a taco, enchilada, or burrito in sight – this is the real deal!) All organic! Great mole sauce and smoothies!
Barbecue you said?
Mojo’s here is town on Cordova is really good, try their smoked corn side. My favorite is Smokin D’s which is on the corner of highways 1 and 206, about 10 miles South on Highway 1. Wednesday is Rib Day at Culinary Outfitters Bistro on South Dixie hwy.
Where do the locals eat?
Well, Ned’s Southside Diner across from Walmart on Highway 1 South is popular as is Metro Diner (small chain) located on the corner of Highway 1 and 207. CRAVE food truck on Riberia is really popular with locals for Lunch. The Back 40 Cafe on South Dixie Highway is another local fave.
One of my personal favorites is the Culinary Outfitters Bistro on South Dixie Highway. I’ve never seen a tourist there since it’s off the beaten path and very easy to miss. Lunch is great and reasonable. They are building a new restaurant and in the meantime serve dinner on select Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays. Very small dining room so reservations are a must. Local fish is their specialty, but dinner is double the cost of Lunch.
HOPTINGER’S on Anastasia Blvd across the Bridge of Lions is a tap room (try the Fruehli Strawberry beer on a Summer day!) Good food there.
Across from Hoptinger’s is PLANET SARBEZ (Zebra’s backwards) and they are known to be the center of the Grilled Cheese Universe. Young vibe with local music.
CAFE 11, corner of A1A Beach and 11th Street had good lunches, some really good late night music (Modest Mouse played there twice in 2003! if you can believe it) and one of the best all you can eat Sunday Brunches.
